Talks at the Yan’an Forum on Literature and Art & Talk on Questions of Philosophy

This volume contains two famous talks delivered in a conversational style by Chairman Mao on questions of art, literature, and philosophy. In his Talks at the Yan'an Forum on Literature and Art given in 1942, Chairman Mao discusses the role of art and literature in the revolutionary movement. He emphasizes that art and literature must be a product of the revolutionary movement, and must in turn serve it. In his Talk on Questions of Philosophy given in 1964, Chairman Mao clarifies several questions of dialectical materialist philosophy, particularly its fundamental law, the law of contradiction.
