This document, authored in 1847 as the second of two draft programs for the Communist League, was first published in 1914. This document, in a catechistic form, lays out the scientific conception of communism worked out by Marx and Engels. Although this document is from the earlier phase of the development of Marxism, which would later take more definite shape and acquire more breadth and depth, here one can see the precision and far-reaching vision of Marx and Engels as compared to the ideas of their contemporaries. This document would later be revised upon the suggestion of Engels and became the basis for the world famous “Manifesto of the Communist Party”, published in 1848.
